Florida panther (Felis concolor coryi).  Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, Florida.

On the verge of extinction, the Florida panther is now so deprived of adequate habitat that its long term survival in the wild must be deemed unlikely.  More habitat is being destroyed for new development on an almost daily basis.  Florida has not learned to say no to growth, and it may already be too late for this beautiful cat.  This is a captive specimen--a necessity given the extreme rarity of wild sightings.
